The Academic Forum of Marine Environment and Chemistry for graduate students was successfully held

On January 4, 2024, the 2023 Academic Conference of Guangxi Key Laboratory of Coral Reef Research in the South China Sea -- Academic Forum for Graduate Students in Marine Environment and Chemistry was successfully held in the academic conference room of the College. The forum will be conducted in a combination of online and offline.

The forum will consist of 3 invited presentations and 17 oral presentations by graduate students, namely:

Invited presentations are:

Chen Hui, Senior Engineer, Guangdong Academy of Environmental Sciences, Screening, Identification, pollution Characteristics and Exposure of liquid crystal monomers in e-waste dismantling plants;

Li Penghui, Assistant Researcher, Sun Yat-sen University, "Application of high-resolution mass spectrometry in the Study of dissolved Organic Matter in water Ecosystem";

Chen Chongtai, Master student, Shanghai Ocean University, "Estimation of Dissolved Black Carbon (DBC) in Suspended Particulate Matter in Water: A case study of the Bohai Sea".

The oral report was delivered by Gan Pin, Chen Xuan, Luo LAN, Qin Zuan, Zhu Riguang, Yang Kai, Bin Qi, Chen Yingzhan, Zhang Xuzhe, Luo Zhu, Zhang Yibang, Huang Siyu, Li Haolan, Yan Anan, Xia Ronglin, Hu Junjie, Zhu Ronggui and Zhou Chaoyang of Guangxi Key Laboratory of Coral Reef Research in the South China Sea.

After review, Hu Junjie (Ph. D. candidate, report on the stress response Mechanism and Biotransformation mechanism of the Obfuscated Tetralogy to Ocrilin), Xia Ronglin (Ph. D. candidate, report on the Non-negligible nitrogen Source - Urea in Xisha Coral Reef), Gan Pin (Master candidate, report on the following topics: "UV/chlorine, UV/NH2Cl and UV/ClO2 Inactivated Mariculture and Multi-Perspective Comparison of harmful Protozoa: Efficiency and Mechanism"), Chen Xuan (Master student, presentation title: Comparative study of Uronema marinum Inactivated by UV/H2O2,UV/ NaClO, and UV/PDS in seawater), Zhu Riguang (Master candidate, presentation title: Study on Corrosion behavior of Marine Pseudomonas aeruginosa on X70 Steel Based on Electrochemical Analysis), Chen Yingzhan (Master candidate, presentation title: "Dynamic Field Detection of Vibrio Corallolytic eDNA and Coral Health Warning"), Yibang Zhang (Master student, presentation title: "Observation of Marine radioactivity in the context of Fukushima - from the Fukushima Core Contaminated Sea Area to the China Sea"), Haolan Li (Master student, presentation title: "Black Carbon in deep-sea seamount sediment Column: Vertical Variation and Non-negligible Coke Components ") and other 8 graduate students won the excellent report award of this conference.

This forum is the third topic of the Guangxi South China Sea Coral Reef Research Key Experiment 2023 Academic Committee conference and academic annual Conference series forum, which is an important way to promote the construction of the Guangxi South China Sea coral reef research Key Laboratory and strive to strengthen the integration of chemical oceanography, environmental chemistry, and coral reef system science. The goal of the forum is to promote academic exchanges and sharing of research results among young scholars and to provide an important platform for the development of coral reef system science and the training of coral reef professionals.
